One of the things I was most worried about in coming to Spain was finding a church and christian friends here... Like always God has been watching out for me, and it is amazing to see His plan being played out. There are a couple of other girls on the trip who are devoted Christians and we have had the opportunity to get involved in a church here in Granada. Last Wednesday was the first time I went and it was a prayer meeting for the church.. the ladies at the meeting welcomed us with open
arms. After the meeting there was worship practice for the Sunday morning service. They invited us to stay and learn the songs. This was an amazing time for me to just spend with the Lord. We met a couple of the other college students there as well and we had a great time. Jamie and Andrew are the leaders for the college portion of the church. They are ironically from Chicago!! Jamie really helped me to learn the songs and their meanings. It was a great time of worship that I was so blessed to have. Saturday night we went back for the college service, it was a lot like the ministry I am involved in at Eastview- Fuel. I miss fuel SOOOO much! but this was a great substitute for now. We worshiped and many of the songs were originally written in English so we knew them, but now we got to sing them in
Spanish. Very cool! This morning we went to the actual service.. it was long.. 2 hours, which is A LOT of Spanish. But I really enjoyed it. My aunt and sister sent me my Spanish Bible, which I am sooo excited about! Kelsey- another girl that goes to ISU- and I are going through the book of Acts right now. It's so great to have a friend to keep me accountable and to have the same beliefs while in a different country. Also! I am really sad I am missing the Fuel Fall Retreat this year, I have gone the last two years- BUT the church here in Granada is also having a Fall Retreat- the first weekend in November! Yay!! Keep praying for me! XOXO
I read some really neat metaphors today in the book called Crazy Love- I really like them

"(As Christians) we are on a never-ending downward escalator. In order to grow, we have to turn around and sprint up the escalator, putting up with perturbed looks from everyone else who is gradually moving downward."
"If life is a river, then pursuing Christ requires swimming upstream. When we stop swimming, or actively following Him, we automatically begin to be swept downstream."
